Nanotechnology Building Blocks for Intervention with Alzheimer’s Disease Pathology: Implications in Disease Modifying Strategies

چکیده

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder manifested by progressive loss of memory followed by irreversible dementia [1-3]. AD neurodegeneration is characterized by the loss of neurons preceded by cell membrane and cytoskeleton damage due to a complex of molecular pathways that finally lead to formation of amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain tissue [1-3].

The Correlation of Biological Activity and Chemical Structure of Quinolizidinyl Derivatives as Inhibitor of Alzheimer’s Disease with Linear and Non-linear Models

In this research,QSAR study has been carried out on quinolizidinyl derivatives as potent inhibitors of Acetyl and Butyrylcholin esterase in Alzheimer’s disease. Despite significant research efforts in both industry and academia, there are currently no diseases modifying therapies available to treat this illness. Significant evidence suggests that the pathology of AD is linked to generation of β...

Midlife interventions are critical in prevention, delay, or improvement of Alzheimer’s disease and vascular cognitive

The basic strategy for focusing exclusively on genetically identified targets for intervening in late life dementias was formulated 30 years ago. Three decades and billions of dollars later, all efforts at disease-modifying interventions have failed. Over that same period, evidence has accrued pointing to dementias as late-life clinical phenotypes that begin as midlife pathologies. Effective...

The Evolving Dialogue of Microglia and Neurons in Alzheimer’s Disease: Microglia as Necessary Transducers of Pathology

The understanding of the contribution of microglial cells to the onset and/or progression chronic neurodegenerative diseases is key to identify disease-modifying therapies, given the strong neuroimmune component of these disorders. In this review, we dissect the different pathways by which microglia can affect, directly or indirectly, neuronal function and dysfunction associated with diseases l...
